East Herts Signs Sponsor 2011 Trek Banner

New Futures Nepal would like to express their sincere thanks to East Herts Signs & Engraving for their very generous sponsorship of the banner for the New Futures Nepal 2011 Everest region Trek.

The banner was well travelled and can be seen here with the ‘Trek Crew’, trekkers and Sherpas, in the group photograph at 3800m and with the children and trekkers during their day together at the Hope Centre.

The trek raised important funds for New Futures Nepal and East Herts Signs helped to record this very successful fund raising trek for posterity.  The resulting publicity from the photographs displaying the banner will aid future fundraising.

Once again our sincere thanks to www.easthertssigns.co.uk

Creation of the trek ‘T’ shirts

New Futures Nepal trekkers receive a ‘trek T shirt’ which is used for the team photograph at the highest point on trek.  The T shirt is also a memento of their trip of a lifetime!

For the NFN 2011 trek the ‘T’ shirts were designed and produced by a group of artists at The Drawing Room, a social enterprise at St Elizabeth’s Centre in Hertfordshire http://www.stelizabeths.org.uk. St Elizabeth’s is a national charity for children and adults with severe epilepsy and other neurological conditions.  The specialist education, residential and medical services provided help people of all ages to reach their full potential in a supportive and inspiring environment.

The Centre, as part of its vocational and practical programmes, has created a network of social enterprises, providing St Elizabeth’s young college learners and adults with the opportunity to experience involvement in the process and production of items for display and sale. St Elizabeth’s was chosen by New Futures Nepal as the charity aims to offer a supported, stimulating lifestyle which mirrors the natural domesticity of a family home.  This strategy emulates the NFN strategy in the two homes it supports in Nepal and India.

To create the ‘T’ shirts each member of the design team participated at a level which suited them as an individual, all participants were encouraged to take ownership for the success of the project.  The Drawing Room social enterprise boasts a team of qualified artists who assisted the clients to produce the ‘T’ shirts to a professional standard.
