New Futures Nepal supports children living in the Hope Centre in Kathmandu, Nepal and Hornbeam House, Kalimpong in India. The children living in the homes are all disadvantaged and are either orphaned, abandoned or disabled. They are of Nepali origin and come from some of the poorest hill communities in the Nepalese and India Himalaya. Without our help they would have little hope for the future.
One of the best ways to secure a brighter future for the children is to ensure they receive an education, as this is their ‘ticket to a better life, increasing their employment prospects as self sufficient adults.

Education in Nepal is not state funded, and therefore not accessible to everyone, only those who are able to pay the school fees etc are able to receive an education.
In order to help secure an education for the children we run the ‘sponsor a child scheme’ in which you can pledge help sponsor a child’s education.
As little as £10 per month can help us to educate a child. The money is used to fund their education, provide their books and school uniforms.
Our sponsor a child scheme lets you choose the sex of the child you wish to support. After completing our sponsor a child donation/standing order form we will nominate a child for you to support and send you information with a picture of the child you will be supporting. Following this each year in the summer you will also receive a written report from the manager of either the Hope centre or Hornbeam house depending on where your sponsored child lives. These reports from Betty Thapa or Tilak Shrestha will tell you about your child’s progress, general well being, activities and health over the past year. Our sponsors love to hear how the children are progressing and where possible we try to include photographs.
Unfortunately we do not encourage direct contact with the child you sponsor as we have found this can cause inequalities within the home and prefer sponsors to remain anonymous. However, when the child becomes an independent adult and leaves the home there will be the opportunity, if both you and the young adult wish, to make contact. At this point you will also be given the opportunity to sponsor another child or if you prefer and it is appropriate to continue to sponsor your young adult if they decide to enter higher education.
If you are interested in joining this scheme please;
- Download a standing order form and complete ensuring you tick the sponsor a child section.
- Or contact Helen Crook (sponsor a child Scheme co-ordinator) by e mail finance@newfutures Nepal.org
So far the scheme has generated a lot of interest however we continue to need new sponsors to ensure all of the children receive equal access to education.
